Morocco Weather: Scattered Showers and Strong Winds Forecast Wednesday

Morocco’s weather forecast for Wednesday points to a familiar autumn pattern: a drier, partly sunny interior contrasting with a cloud-covered coastline, according to the latest bulletin from the General Directorate of Meteorology. Residents in the southern Oriental region, the Southeast and the High Atlas peaks can expect partly cloudy skies with a chance of light, scattered rain showers during the day.

Along the coast, the picture looks quite different. Both the Mediterranean and Atlantic shorelines are forecast to see low, dense cloud cover in the morning and again after sunset, bringing patches of fog and very localized light drizzle. This kind of coastal dampness is typical for mid-October, when daytime warmth gives way to cooler, moisture-laden air overnight.

Wind will be a notable factor in several parts of the country. Forecasters are calling for moderate to fairly strong gusts around the Tangier area, in the Southeast, and across the Saharan provinces, with a risk of localized dust being kicked up in these drier regions. Drivers on desert and semi-desert routes are advised to watch for sudden drops in visibility.

On temperatures, overnight lows will range between 3 and 9 degrees Celsius in the Atlas highlands, a reminder that autumn is already taking hold at altitude. Lows will sit between 9 and 15 degrees in the Oriental region, the Rif and the eastern Atlas slopes, while the rest of the country can expect nighttime readings of 16 to 21 degrees. Daytime highs are forecast to inch upward slightly across the northern and central Atlantic plains and in the western Saharan provinces, with little change expected elsewhere.

At sea, caution is advised as well. Meteorologists are forecasting rough to very rough waters along the Mediterranean coast, the Strait of Gibraltar and the Atlantic seaboard, conditions that could affect small fishing boats and coastal shipping.

Taken together, Wednesday’s outlook reflects the broader seasonal shift now under way across the kingdom, as summer’s lingering warmth retreats further each week and the first real signs of autumn settle in over Morocco’s mountains and northern coastline.
