Morocco’s CGEM Pledges to Turn King’s Speech Into Concrete Action

Less than two days after King Mohammed VI addressed both houses of Morocco’s Parliament, the country’s leading business federation says it is ready to move from words to action. Mehdi Tazi, head of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), told the official MAP news agency that his organization will mobilize all its resources to translate the King’s directives into measurable results on the ground.

According to Tazi, the CGEM is finalizing an action plan built around several priorities: accelerating productive investment across every region of the kingdom, encouraging companies to innovate and adopt artificial intelligence, developing new industrial niches and export sectors, shoring up water, energy and food security, and helping small and medium-sized enterprises sharpen their competitive edge.

Tazi described the royal address as setting out an ambitious roadmap for speeding up Morocco’s economic transformation in a way that benefits every citizen and every region, in keeping with the principles of social and territorial justice. He noted that the King had once again underlined the private sector’s central role as an engine of investment, job creation and wealth generation.

The federation’s stated goal is to convert these broad orientations into projects that generate real local value, create lasting jobs for young Moroccans, expand the country’s production and export capacity, and narrow the gap between the kingdom’s more and less developed regions.

The CGEM’s pledge comes as the government and economic operators begin working out how to implement the priorities laid out in Friday’s speech, which emphasized accelerating Morocco’s economic and social development while tightening the link between growth and territorial fairness. By speaking out so quickly, the business lobby is signaling that it intends to act as an engaged partner in this new phase rather than wait on the sidelines, reinforcing its ambition to help cement Morocco’s status as a rising economic power on the African continent.
