Morocco Unveils « +ORY, » an AI Platform for Mental Health Care

Artificial intelligence has found a new foothold in Morocco’s mental health sector. On Saturday in Tamesna, developers officially unveiled « +ORY, » a homegrown AI platform designed to support psychiatric and psychological care, timed to coincide with World Mental Health Day. Its creators are careful to frame the tool as an aid for clinicians, not a replacement for the human relationship at the heart of therapy.

The launch event drew medical professionals and technology specialists for a live demonstration, followed by a discussion involving the project’s scientific team alongside practicing psychiatrists and psychologists. Described by its creators as entirely Moroccan-built, « +ORY » is the product of several years of research and development. It is pitched as an integrated system meant to streamline patient care, improve coordination among caregivers, and keep the patient at the center of the treatment pathway. The team behind it says international expansion is already under consideration.

Dr. Hasnaa Rammach, who holds a doctorate in computer science and artificial intelligence, presented the platform as a way to deliver « comprehensive, humane and intelligent » care for patients dealing with psychological conditions. She framed the core challenge the tool addresses as reconnecting healthcare professionals with their workflows and with the various stages of patient follow-up.

Jaafar El Idrissi Tefraouti, medical director at La Vallée clinic, said the project highlights a Moroccan innovation « capable of contributing to the development of medical practice internationally. » Clinical psychologist Sofia Garcia, meanwhile, was careful to draw a line around what the technology can and cannot do: it cannot substitute for listening, clinical judgment, or the therapeutic bond between caregiver and patient, she said. Instead, she argued, its real value lies in lightening administrative and tracking tasks, freeing up time and attention that practitioners can redirect toward their patients.

The launch fits into a broader push to digitize Morocco’s healthcare sector, where artificial intelligence tools are increasingly finding practical roles inside hospital operations. Whether « +ORY » can earn lasting trust in a field where the bond between patient and caregiver resists automation by nature remains an open question.
