Tensions between Tehran, Washington and Tel Aviv have climbed again, with officials now describing joint military planning for potential strikes on Iran. According to reports circulating Thursday, the American and Israeli armed forces have drawn up attack scenarios, a development that lands against a backdrop of months of simmering confrontation between the two camps.
The disclosure comes on the 127th day since Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding, and 236 days after open conflict first erupted between the two sides. That stretch of time has evidently done little to defuse the situation on the ground.
Notable movements have also been reported on the American side. Personnel are said to have been relocated away from certain regional bases, alongside a reduced troop presence near the Gulf. Washington appears to be repositioning its forces, though its precise intentions remain unclear for now.
On the Iranian side, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is reported to have issued threats against the undersea cables running through the Strait of Hormuz, a chokepoint critical to global oil shipping. Were such a threat carried out, the fallout would extend well beyond energy markets: those cables also carry a substantial share of intercontinental internet traffic, raising the prospect of wider digital disruption.
Separately, accounts point to mounting Israeli pressure to resume strikes inside Iranian territory, suggesting the relative lull of recent months may be nearing its end. Israeli fighter jets have reportedly been spotted flying close to Iranian airspace, another sign that the standoff is intensifying rather than easing.
For its part, Tehran is striking a dual posture, telling observers it remains open to further negotiations while also declaring itself ready for a renewed war footing should one become necessary. That ambivalence reflects genuine uncertainty over how the crisis will unfold, in a region where every troop movement and flight path is being watched closely by a wider international community wary of a confrontation that could spill well beyond its current boundaries.
